Changing a File from Audited to Nonaudited
Changing a File from Audited to Nonaudited
If you alter the audit attribute of a file from audited to nonaudited, the following results
occur:
All TMF protection for the file is eliminated. Backout, volume recovery, and file
recovery no longer protect the file.
All online dump entries for the file are marked INVALID ON and RELEASED ON in
the TMF catalog. File recovery no longer protects the file, even if you immediately
set the audit attribute back to audited. A dump could accidentally be deleted from
the TMF catalog if the last assigned file in the dump is changed to the released
state.
The crash-open, undo-needed, and redo-needed flags for the file are cleared.
Returning a File from NonAudited to Audited
Altering the audit attribute of a crashed file from audited to nonaudited and then
altering it back to audited has the following results:
The crash-open, undo-needed, and redo-needed flags for the file are cleared
erroneously.
All online dump entries for the file are marked INVALID ON and RELEASED ON,
making it possible for a dump to be accidentally deleted from the TMF catalog.
TMF volume recovery of the crashed file cannot be performed. If the file is
inconsistent, you must either use TMF file recovery (if an online dump of the file is
still available) or repair it manually.
If you mistakenly alter the audit attribute from audited to nonaudited, you must do the
following to restore the file to its original condition:
Change the audit attribute back to audited.
If you want to use the TMF file recovery feature, make a new online dump of the
file.
Determining if a File is Audited
To interactively find out if a file is audited, issue a FUP INFO command.
The output of the following command includes the letter A in the file code field,
indicating that the file is audited:
113> FUP INFO $DATA.EMP.EMPDATA
CODE EOF LAST MODIF OWNER RWEP TYPE REC BLOCK
$DATA.EMP
EMPDATA A O 16:24 8,86 OOOO
