Corrective Tasks
Back up the TMF catalog and configuration files (Section 2, Routine Maintenance
and Section 7, Recovery Methods).
Create Disk Space Analysis Program (DSAP) reports for audit-trail volumes and
volumes that contain audited files (Section 7, Recovery Methods).
Corrective Tasks
Take the following actions only when there is a deficiency or problem on your system:
Reconfigure the audit dump configuration (Section 4, Audit Dumps).
Enable and disable data volumes for TMF processing (Section 3, Occasional
Operations).
Enable and disable the BEGINTRANSACTION procedure (Section 3, Occasional
Operations).
Enable and disable audit dumps (Section 4, Audit Dumps).
Control the outcome of transactions (Section 3, Occasional Operations).
Capture information about TMF internal errors, software failures, and hardware
failures (Section 3, Occasional Operations).
Recover the database, audit-trail files, or TMF catalog (Section 7, Recovery
Methods).
To prevent further problems on the system, it is important to coordinate these tasks
with those responsible for system configuration and management.
Migration Considerations
When you move from an existing TMF software release to a new release that supports
a different TMF audit-trail format, migration and fallback issues are always involved.
The Enscribe format 2 files (big files) capability required that a change be made in the
TMF audit-trail structure in the D46.00/G06.00 RVUs. Because of this change,
migration considerations apply to all systems using the TMF product that move from a
release that does not support Enscribe format 2 files to one that does, whether or not
format 2 files are used. For additional information about using format 2 files, system
managers and operators who perform day-to-day TMF operations can read Using
Format 2 Files on page B-4.
For additional information about migration and fallback considerations for SQL format 2
enabled tables, see NonStop SQL/MP Installation and Management Guide.
System managers and operators who must perform migration or fallback work are
urged to read the information about format 2 files in the TMF Planning and
Configuration Guide. Programmers writing applications that run in a TMF environment
should read the information about format 2 files in the TMF Application Programmer’s
Guide.
