Displaying TMF Status
Table 1-2 lists the possible TMF states reported by the STATUS TMF command.
Table 1-2. TMF States
State Meaning
Empty audit-trail
configuration
TMF has been brought up for the first time on this node and no
configuration exists for it, or a DELETE TMF command was
executed. To start TMF, you must use the ADD AUDITTRAIL
command to add at least one audit trail.
Configuring new audit
trails
TMF has not yet been started with this configuration. You can
still add new audit trails with the ADD AUDITTRAIL command,
alter previously added audit trails with the ALTER AUDITTRAIL
command, or start TMF with the START TMF command.
Started TMF has started.
Stopped TMF is stopped.
Starting (starting
state)
A START TMF command is in progress, and is in one of the
following starting conditions:
Services—Audit-trail services and other TMF services are
starting.
Waiting for network transactions to be resolved—TMF is
committing or backing out distributed transactions that did not
complete when TMF was last running.
Data volumes—Data volumes are starting for TMF processing.
Running backout—The backout process is backing out
transactions that did not complete when TMF was last running.
Stopping (stopping
state)
TMF is stopping, and is in one of the following stopping
conditions:
Waiting for transactions to finish—TMF is committing or backing
out all unfinished transactions.
Data volumes—Data volumes are stopping for TMF processing.
Waiting for RDF—TMF is waiting for the HP NonStop Remote
Database Facility (RDF) to shut down.
Services—Audit-trail services and other TMF services are
stopping.
