Maintaining Data Volumes
Maintaining Data Volumes
When TMF starts, it automatically starts all data volumes that are enabled for
transaction processing. You monitor the status of enabled data volumes to make sure
that they are operating and configured properly.
This section describes how to monitor the data volume status display, and explains
what action may be needed based on the information in that display. For information
on disabling and reenabling data volumes, and changing the data volume
configuration, see Section 3, Occasional Operations.
Displaying Data Volume Activity
Use the STATUS DATAVOLS command to check the status of one or more data
volumes. This information tells you which data volumes are available for transaction
processing, and displays several key attributes of the data volume configuration. Any
user allowed to use TMFCOM can use this command when TMF is running. Here is
an example of the STATUS DATAVOLS command display when no options have been
used:
TMF 10> STATUS DATAVOLS
Audit Recovery
Volume Trail Mode State
-------------------------------------------------------------
$DATA1 MAT Online Started
$DATA2 MAT Online Started
$DATA3 MAT Online Started
$DATA4 MAT Online Recovering
$DATA5 MAT Archive Recovering
$DATA6 AUX01 Online Started
$DATA7 AUX01 Online Started
$DATA8 AUX01 Archive Recovering
You can display the status for an individual data volume by entering the volume name
in the STATUS DATAVOLS command:
TMF 11> STATUS DATAVOLS $DATA1
See the TMF Reference Manual for complete instructions on using the STATUS
DATAVOLS command.
Table 2-2 describes the information in the STATUS DATAVOLS display.
