ALTER PROCESS
requests from other TMF processes, TMCOM commands dealing with tape and
dump media, and requests from tape-handling processes. Up to two catalog
processes (a primary and a backup process) can run at any time, but never in the
same processor.
Process start-up: Catalog processes start when TMF is started, and terminate
when TMF is stopped. If a catalog process stops or abends while TMF is running,
the TMP automatically restarts it.
•
COPYAUDITOVFLOW
Description: An audit overflow process writes audit-trail files to overflow-audit
volumes. An audit overflow process runs only when the overflow threshold for an
active-audit trail is reached. At most, there can be one audit overflow process
running for each audit trail, for a maximum of 16 audit overflow processes. By
default, audit overflow processes are dynamically assigned to processors by the
TMP as needed. You can override the default by adding or removing processors
for this process type.
Process start-up: Audit overflow processes start as they are needed.
•
FILERECOVERY
Description: A file recovery process reconstructs unusable audited files during
recovery operations. (A file can become unusable for several reasons, including
disk failure, mistaken deletion of an audited volume, or incorrect changes to the
database by an application program.) A file recovery process runs only during file
recovery. By default, file recovery processes are dynamically assigned to one or
more processors as needed. You can override the default by adding or removing
processors for this process type.
Process start-up: File recovery processes start whenever a TMFCOM RECOVER
FILES command is issued.
•
FILERECOVLIST
Description: A file recovery list process translates file sets specified in a
TMFCOM RECOVER FILES command using wild-card characters into a list of fully
qualified database tables and file names. A file recovery list process runs only
during this translation operation. By default, file recovery list processes are
dynamically assigned to one or more processors as needed. You can override the
default by adding or removing processors for this process type.
Process start-up: File recovery processes start whenever a TMFCOM RECOVER
FILES command is issued.
