ALTER TMF
ALTER TMF
The ALTER TMF command changes the TMF configuration volume or switches the
functions of the TMP’s primary and backup processes.
CONFIGVOL volume
specifies the name of the volume that contains the configuration files to be used in
the next TMF startup. The volume must be accessible by the TMFMON2 process,
which creates other TMF processes during TMF startup.
SWITCHPROCESS TMP
switches the function of the TMP’s primary and backup processes, effectively
changing the primary process to the backup and vice-versa.
Security Restrictions
You can use the ALTER TMF command only if you are a member of the super user
group.
TMF State Requirement
Before you can enter the ALTER TMF command with the CONFIGVOL volume option,
TMF must be stopped. However, you can enter the ALTER TMF command with the
SWITCHPROCESS TMP option at any time, whether or not TMF is running.
Usage Guidelines
With the ALTER TMF command, you can select either of two operations: changing the
TMF configuration volume or switching the TMPs primary and backup processes.
When entering an ALTER TMF command, you select one or the other of these
operations, but not both.
Changing the TMF Configuration Volume
With the CONFIGVOL option, the ALTER TMF command causes the TMP process to
change the TMF configuration volume and then stop itself. The new TMP process, re-
created automatically, uses the new configuration volume. If there are no configuration
files located in the ZTMFCONF subvolume on that volume, the TMP creates new ones.
