DELETE CATALOG
DELETE CATALOG
The DELETE CATALOG command clears from the TMF catalog all online dump, audit 
dump, and media entries, and resets to 64 the counter used for assigning dump serial 
numbers. 
Security Restrictions
You can enter the DELETE CATALOG command only if you are logged on under the 
super ID; the super ID is the person with the user ID 255,255−in effect, the group 
manager of the super user group
TMF State Requirement
Before you can enter the DELETE CATALOG command, TMF must be started. 
Usage Guidelines
Because the DELETE CATALOG command clears all dump and tape-volume entries 
from the catalog, you will not be able to use online and audit dumps that were made 
before this command was issued. 
The DELETE CATALOG command displays a prompt that allows you to confirm the 
operation.
After issuing the DELETE CATALOG command, be sure to make new online dumps to 
support future restore operations.
Example
The following DELETE CATALOG command produces the normal prompt for 
confirmation:
TMF 90> DELETE CATALOG
WARNING: The Delete Catalog command will throw away all
 online dump audit dump and media entries. Use
 CAUTION when performing the Delete Catalog 
 command.

Caution. Use extreme caution when entering the DELETE CATALOG command, because this 
command removes TMF’s ability to recover your database from previously dumped files.
