DELETE DATAVOLS
DELETE DATAVOLS
The DELETE DATAVOLS command removes one or more data volumes from the TMF
configuration.
volume
identifies a data volume to be deleted.
ALLOWINCONSISTENCY
indicates that the data volumes specified are to be deleted even if it is uncertain
that they contain only consistent data.
Normally, if you attempt to delete a data volume in the disabled-dirty state, the
DELETE DATAVOLS command fails; however, specifying
ALLOWINCONSISTENCY in this command overrides this protective mechanism
and allows TMF to delete the volume despite potential inconsistencies.
Security Restrictions
You can issue a DELETE DATAVOLS command only if you are a member of the super
user group.
TMF State Requirement
Before you can enter the DELETE DATAVOLS command, TMF must be running and
the data volumes to be removed must be disabled with the DISABLE DATAVOLS
command.
Usage Guidelines
After each delete operation, the DELETE DATAVOLS command displays a message
stating whether the deletion was completed successfully, and if not, the reason why.
After a data volume has been deleted from the TMF configuration, it cannot be
restarted for transaction processing until it has been re-added. In addition, after a data
volume is deleted, no volume recovery can be performed until it is added again to the
configuration and started.
If file recovery is no longer needed for the files on a deleted data volume, issue a
DELETE DUMPS command to remove any associated online dumps from the TMF
DELETE DATAVOL[S] {volume }
{(volume [,volume]...)}
[,ALLOWINCONSISTENCY]
Caution. After a data volume has been deleted with ALLOWINCONSISTENCY selected,
volume recovery cannot return it to a consistent state.
