DELETE TAPEMEDIA
DELETE TAPEMEDIA
The DELETE TAPEMEDIA command removes tape-volume entries from the TMF
catalog and also deletes the entries for dumps stored on the removed tape volumes.
tape-volume
identifies the tape volume whose entries are to be deleted from the catalog. For
this parameter, use the name magnetically encoded on the tape volume.
Security Restrictions
You can issue the DELETE TAPEMEDIA command only if you are a member of the
super user group.
TMF State Requirement
Before you can enter the DELETE TAPEMEDIA command, TMF must be started.
Examples
The following DELETE TAPEMEDIA command removes the tape volume TMF004 from
the catalog:
TMF 14> DELETE TAPEMEDIA TMF004
If this volume currently has ASSIGNED status (indicating that it contains valid dumps),
the dump file entries associated with the volume in the catalog are also removed.
The next DELETE TAPEMEDIA command deletes the tape volumes TMF009,
TMF010, and TMF012 from the catalog:
TMF 15> DELETE TAPEMEDIA (TMF009, TMF010, TMF012)
