ENABLE DATAVOLS
ENABLE DATAVOLS
The ENABLE DATAVOLS command reenables transaction processing (audited
updates) for the specified data volumes, and makes them subject to automatic restart
by TMF. If the data volumes specified are accessible, they are restarted immediately.
volume
identifies a disabled data volume for which transaction processing is to be
reenabled.
*
reenables transaction processing for all disabled data volumes in the TMF
configuration. Exceptions are the volumes listed in the NOT clause, if any.
NOT volume
used with the asterisk (*) indicator to specify one or more disk volumes for which
transaction processing is not to be reenabled; in other words, this option excludes
specific volumes from being reenabled.
Security Restrictions
You can issue an ENABLE DATAVOLS command only if you are a member of the
super user group.
TMF State Requirement
Before you can enter the ENABLE DATAVOLS command, TMF must be started.
Usage Guidelines
The ENABLE DATAVOLS command places one or more data volumes in a state where
they can be automatically restarted and recovered, if they can be accessed by TMF.
The ENABLE DATAVOLS command succeeds only if the volumes listed are in the
disabled state; that is, they must be either disabled-clean or disabled-dirty.
If the disk volume is currently up when the ENABLE DATAVOLS command is issued,
TMF immediately restarts it. If the volume is inaccessible when the ENABLE
DATAVOLS command is issued, TMF records that it is down and restarts it immediately
the next time it becomes accessible.
