TMF Objects
TMF Objects
You manage and operate TMF, and control your TMF environment, by issuing
commands that create, alter, delete, and return information about various TMF objects.
These objects, listed in Table 1-1, include such items as dumps, files, processes, and
TMF itself.
Table 1-1. TMF Objects (page 1 of 2)
Object Object Keyword Description
Audit dump AUDITDUMP A copy of an audit-trail file written to
a tape or disk volume by an audit
dump process; audit dumps are used
to recover audited files that have
become unusable.
Audit trail AUDITTRAIL A collection of records that contain
information about database
transactions and TMF activity:
specifically, a series of audit-trail files
containing audit records for
transactions that make changes to
audited disk files. Audit-trail
configurations include active-audit
volumes, overflow-audit volumes,
restore-audit volumes, and an
overflow threshold that triggers
overflow copying.
Catalog CATALOG A database that contains information
about audit dumps, online dumps,
tape volumes, and disk volumes.
This database specifies which media
dumped files reside upon and which
dump media are available for reuse.
Data volume DATAVOL[S] A disk volume configured to contain
audited database files and thus used
to generate audit records to be
placed in an active-audit trail.
Database file FILES A file in an application database,
