Message Descriptions

Cause. The command contained a subvolume name or file identifier that did not begin
with a letter.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Verify that the subvolume name or file identifier complies with the syntax
rules listed in File Names and Process Identifiers on page 3-6. Then, re-enter the
command, ensuring that the subvolume name or file identifier begins with a letter.

Cause. The command line contained a comment that was too long. Perhaps the
ampersand was not used as a continuation character to spread the command over
multiple lines.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Re-enter the command line, limiting the comment to the required size.

Cause. The command contained a file specifier that was too long.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Verify that the file specifier complies with the syntax rules listed in File
Names and Process Identifiers on page 3-6. Then, re-enter the command, ensuring
that the file specifier does not violate its length limit.

Cause. An FC command attempted to repeat or correct a previously entered
command, but no preceding commands exist in the command buffer; this FC command
was the first command entered in this TMFCOM session.
Effect. None; informative message only.
Recovery. None required.
First character must be alphabetic.
Comment exceeds maximum length.
Maximum length exceeded.
No previous command to FC.
