ADD TAPEMEDIA
ADD TAPEMEDIA
The ADD TAPEMEDIA command adds one or more tape volumes to the TMF catalog
and, optionally, labels these volumes.
tape-volume
identifies the tape volume to be added, specifying the name magnetically encoded
on that volume. Names for tape volumes begin with either a digit or a letter. If the
name begins with a digit, up to five digits can follow. If the name begins with a
letter, up to five digits or letters in any combination can follow. Letter case is not
significant; for example, TMF001 and tmf001 are equivalent entries. You cannot
specify the name of a tape volume that already exists in the catalog.
tape-labeling options
specifies the tape-labeling options, as follows:
LABEL ON [!]
labels the tape volume on the tape drive specified. If you choose this option,
you must also specify the name of the tape drive in the DRIVE parameter.
TMF invokes labeled-tape processing for the specified tape volumes to
determine whether each one has been labeled successfully.
The exclamation point [!] is optional. It specifies that the tape volume is to be
labeled whether or not it already has a label. If you omit the exclamation point
ADD TAPEMEDIA {tape-volume }
{(tape-volume [,tape-volume]...)}
{tape-labeling-options}
{tape-status-options }
where tape-labeling-options are:
,LABEL ON [!]
,DRIVE [node.]device-name
[,DENSITY density ]
[,UNLOAD {ON | OFF}]
and tape-status-options are:
,LABEL OFF
,STATUS {ASSIGNED}
