server and the applications that you run. As an example, the portion of the TMP’s
extended segment used to support data volumes, audit trails, and dependent
processes depends on the configuration of your system. Larger configurations require
more space for control tables. The remaining space is used for dynamic allocation of
TCBs. TCB size depends on the number of nodes involved in distributed transactions,
the number of messages queued for the TCB, and other factors that are hard to
predict. For more details about the EXTENDEDSEGSIZE attribute for the TMP and
TMFMON process types, and related differences in TMF behavior, see
EXTENDEDSEGSIZE Option Considerations for the TMP on page 3-103 and
EXTENDEDSEGSIZE Option Considerations for the TMFMON on page 3-104.
For other recommendations for specific process types, see TMF Planning and
Configuration Guide.
The EXTENDEDSEGSIZE attribute values (integer1 and integer2) have the default
and minimum values listed for each process type in the following table:
For all process types except the TMP, if you specify 128 for integer2, TMF internally
uses 127.5 MB as the segment growth limit and modifies the specified integer1 value
down so that the initial segment size becomes a multiple of 127.5. The initial segment
size and growth limit displayed by the INFO PROCESS command, however, are the
values specified for integer1 and integer2 in the ALTER PROCESS command, rather
than the segment size and growth limit actually in use. For the TMP, the behavior for
integer1 and integer2 differs as described under EXTENDEDSEGSIZE Option
Considerations for the TMP on page 3-103.
The values shown in the “integer1 Default Value” and “integer2 Default Value” columns
are, respectively, the values for integer1 and integer2 initially assigned to the process
