1 Introduction to TMF
TMF protects databases in a wide variety of environments, servicing online transaction
processing (OLTP), online query processing (OLQP), batch processing, and decision-
support systems.
This section introduces the TMF product, summarizes the objects managed by TMF,
and introduces the TMFCOM command interpreter used to operate on those objects:
About TMF
TMF protects databases by managing database transactions, monitoring database
activity through the use of audit trails, and providing database recovery methods. This
product performs its functions while sustaining high performance in a high-volume,
distributed application environment.
A general overview of TMF appears in TMF Introduction. That manual includes
conceptual information about TMF and summarizes its features, components, and
functions. It introduces and explains the basic terms that appear in this and other TMF
manuals. You should read that manual before using this one. For full definitions of all
TMF terms, see TMF Glossary.
Information about the commands used to access TMF appears in Sections 1 through 3
of this manual.
