INFO DUMPS
the same file name in NOT <file-name> and in <file-name>, TMF does not
retrieve information for that file. For more information, see the <file-name>
parameter description.
START start-file
specifies the first file in file-set for which the information is retrieved. The
volume and subvolume names cannot contain wild-card characters. If you omit
this option, the first file actually encountered in file-set is used. Enter start-
file in the following format:
{[[volume.]subvolume.]{file-id | *}}
{[volume.]*.*}
Security Restrictions
Anyone can enter the INFO DUMPS command.
TMF State Requirement
You can enter the INFO DUMPS command at any time, whether or not TMF has been
started.
Usage Guidelines
If a TMF process is currently updating the catalog, the INFO DUMPS command might
not report the most recent dump information. When the updating is completed, this
command then reports the most recent information.
To provide hardcopy information for rebuilding the catalog if the catalog is destroyed,
use the OBEYFORM option or DETAIL option of the INFO DUMPS command, with
output directed to a printer.
When AUDITDUMP is ON, each audit dump to disk is associated with two file records:
one for the audit-trail file itself, and the other for the LABELS file that contains the
audit-trail label information (including the dump ID). In the INFO DUMPS display, both
the LABELS file record and the audit-trail file record appear in the Media Name field.
For more information about the INFO DUMPS display, see Output Displayed.
See the TMF Operations and Recovery Guide for more on obtaining information about
dumps.
Note. You must include the angle-brackets (“<“ and “>”) exactly as shown in the <file-
name> syntax, embedding the file name within these. For example:
INFO DUMPS <$BOULDER.SNOW.NPFILE>, NOT <$DVR.RAIN.NPX>
You cannot specify both the file-set and the <file-name> formats within the same
INFO DUMPS command.
