OPEN SERVER
TERM [node.]term
identifies the home terminal for the TMFSERVE process. This is the terminal
where system start-up error messages are displayed. As a general rule, this
option should not be used. Without this option, the default is the home terminal
currently used by TMFCOM.
Security Restrictions
Anyone can enter the OPEN SERVER command.
TMF State Requirement
You can enter the OPEN SERVER command at any time, whether or not TMF has
been started.
Usage Guidelines
To process your commands, TMFCOM communicates with TMF through the
TMFSERVE process, as illustrated in Figure 3-1. In this interaction, TMFCOM is the
requester process and TMFSERVE is the server process. TMFSERVE passes your
requests to the transaction management process (TMP), which in turn typically
distributes them to other TMF processes (such as the volume recovery process or the
backout process) for servicing. These other processes communicate with each other
as well as the TMP in servicing requests.
