RESOLVE TRANSACTION
audit trail. For a complete discussion of all transaction states, see the STATUS
TRANSACTIONS command description later in this section.)
If the connection between the nodes is reestablished, TMF automatically resolves the
transactions that are in doubt. If communications cannot be reestablished, however,
you may need to resolve the transactions manually. For transactions in the prepared
state at a remote node, you can do this by issuing the RESOLVE TRANSACTION
command at that node.
Before you issue the RESOLVE TRANSACTION command, however, determine the
transaction’s status by entering a STATUS TRANSACTIONS command at both the
home and remote nodes of the transaction. Be certain that you fully understand the
transaction’s status at both nodes before proceeding; no action at the home node,
however, is required for resolving unresolved distributed transactions. Table 3-19
shows what action you should take at the remote node, based on the status of the
transaction at the home node.
While the status of a distributed transaction is active or prepared at the home node, its
final outcome cannot be determined, and the RESOLVE TRANSACTION command
should not be used to resolve it.
See the STATUS TRANSACTIONS command discussion in this manual and the
information on distributed transactions in the TMF Operations and Recovery Guide for
more information about resolving distributed transactions, and for a discussion of
transaction states.
Table 3-19. Resolving Distributed Transactions
Transaction State at
Home Node Action to Take at Remote Node
Aborted Issue the RESOLVE TRANSACTION command with the STATE
ABORTED option.
Aborting Issue the RESOLVE TRANSACTION command with the STATE
ABORTED option.
Committed Issue the RESOLVE TRANSACTION command with the STATE
COMMITTED option.
nonexistent Issue the RESOLVE TRANSACTION command with the STATE
ABORTED option.
Caution. If you are uncertain about the results or ramifications of the RESOLVE
TRANSACTION command, contact the Global Customer Support Center (GCSC) or your HP
service provider before issuing this command.
Using the RESOLVE TRANSACTION command to resolve a transaction that is in any state
other than those listed in Table 3-19
will result in an inconsistent database.
