Message Descriptions
The numbered messages are described in the following pages.

tape-volume
is the invalid tape-volume name.
part
for a command dealing with a dump, identifies the portion of the dump stored on
this tape volume.
copy
for a command dealing with a dump, identifies the copy number of the dump stored
on this tape volume.
Cause. The command specified an invalid tape-volume name or failed to supply the
part:copy specifier when it was required. The tape-volume name refers to the tape
identifier magnetically encoded on the tape. Perhaps the name used in the command
was too long or contained improper characters.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Verify that the tape-volume name complies with the following syntax rules:

The name must begin with a digit or a letter.
•
If the name begins with a digit, up to five more digits can follow.
•
If the name begins with a letter, up to five digits or letters in any combination can
follow. (Either uppercase or lowercase letters are permitted.)
Re-enter the command with a correct tape-volume name or with the part:copy
specifier, if required.
The command specified an invalid TAPEMEDIA name, tape-volume.
If this name begins with a digit, all characters must be
digits. If this name begins with a letter, subsequent
characters can be alphanumeric. Also, the command might
require the “part:copy” specification.
