Cause. The command set the RECOVERYMODE option to ARCHIVE, but the master
audit trail was not configured for audit dumping.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Possible recovery actions are as follows:
•
If you unintentionally set RECOVERYMODE to ARCHIVE, re-enter the ADD
DATAVOLS or ALTER DATAVOLS command with RECOVERYMODE set to
ONLINE.
•
If you do not really need to alter the data volume configuration, leave it as is with
the RECOVERYMODE set to ONLINE.
•
If the data volume is pinning an audit-trail file and you are willing to give up volume
recovery for that volume in return for freeing the audit trail, delete the data volume
from the configuration; you can re-add the volume later if you wish.
•
If the audit trail should really be configured for audit dumping, you can use the
ALTER AUDITTRAIL command to turn audit dumping on. Then, re-enter the ADD
DATAVOLS command.

volume
is the name of the volume specified in the command.
Cause. The command specified a volume that was not configured as a data volume.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. If necessary, reissue the command, specifying the name of a configured
data volume. If the volume you named is not a configured data volume, but it should
be, use the ADD DATAVOLS command to add the volume to the configuration.
ARCHIVE recovery mode requires that the MASTER audit trail be
configured for audit dumping.
Caution. Turning on audit dumping can have a significant impact on TMF operations and
should only be performed with the consent of your system manager. For further information
about audit dumping, see the ADD AUDITTRAIL and ALTER AUDITTRAIL command
descriptions in Section 3, TMFCOM Commands
.
