ADD TAPEMEDIA
The exclamation point [!] is optional. It specifies that the tape volume is to be
labeled whether or not it already has a label. If you omit the exclamation point
and the volume has already been labeled, the ADD TAPEMEDIA command
fails.
DRIVE [node.]device-name
identifies the tape drive on which you want to label tape volumes. Guardian
labeled-tape processing must be enabled on the node (system) you specify in
node. This parameter is required if you want to label tapes.
node is the name of the local or remote node at which the tape drive is
connected. The syntax rules for specifying a node name appear under Disk
File Names, earlier in this section. If the node is not specified, the default is
the node on which your TMFSERVE process is running.
device-name is the name of the tape drive.
DENSITY density
specifies the density at which tapes are written. See Section 4, TMFCOM
Tape Media Considerations, for the DENSITY settings appropriate for the kind
of tape drive you are using.
UNLOAD {ON | OFF}
determines whether the tape volume is unloaded after it is labeled. ON
unloads the tape volume; OFF suppresses unloading. If the UNLOAD option
is completely omitted, the default is ON.
tape-status-options
specifies labeling suppression or tape status, as follows:
LABEL OFF
suppresses tape volume labeling. When recovering the catalog, use this
option to add tape volumes back into it.
STATUS
describes the status of the tape volume:
ASSIGNED
indicates that the tape volume contains valid dumps. If the catalog already
contains an entry for the tape volume specified, an error message is
returned.
