TMF State Requirement
You can enter the INFO TMF command at any time, whether or not TMF has been
started.
Usage Guidelines
The INFO TMF command displays the current TMF configuration volume and
combines the information presented by the INFO commands for the following objects:
AUDITDUMP, AUDITTRAIL, BEGINTRANS (only when TMF is running), and
CATALOG. Except for when the CNFGFORM option is used, information from the
INFO commands for other objects (DATAVOLS, DUMPS, PROCESS,
RESOURCEMANAGER, and TAPEMEDIA) does not appear in the INFO TMF display.
Sometimes, you will want to make basic changes to your TMF configuration that
demand that you first use the DELETE TMF command to completely delete that
configuration. Before issuing the DELETE TMF command, use the INFO TMF
command with the CNFGFORM option to capture your present configuration in its
entirety. The resulting command file will include all commands required to re-create
and start the TMF system, including the appropriate STOP TMF and START TMF
commands. When TMFCOM encounters the STOP TMF, ABRUPT command within
this file, TMFCOM executes this command and then delays for about 10 seconds to
allow the TMP to restart.
The OBEYFORM option is most often used to list the current TMF configuration for
informative purposes. The CNFGFORM option is the easier way to capture and
reproduce a fully runnable copy of the configuration. In fact, if you use the
OBEYFORM option, the output from this option alone cannot reproduce the complete
TMF configuration. For the complete configuration:
If you issue INFO TMF, OBEYFORM while TMF is running, you also need the
output from an INFO DATAVOLS, OBEYFORM and an INFO PROCESS,
OBEYFORM command.
If you issue INFO TMF, OBEYFORM while TMF is stopped, you also need the
output from an INFO BEGINTRANS, OBEYFORM, an INFO DATAVOLS,
OBEYFORM, and an INFO PROCESS, OBEYFORM command. (The INFO
BEGINTRANS, OBEYFORM and INFO DATAVOLS, OBEYFORM commands can
only be issued when TMF is restarted.)
In a command file produced by the OBEYFORM option, ALTER commands that
Caution. Do not use the CNFGFORM option output with versions of TMFCOM earlier than the
G06.17 RVU; in such versions, the presence of the STOP TMF, ABRUPT command in the
command file may result in errors.
