STATUS AUDITTRAIL (Pages 3-261 through 3-267)
Reason The reason the file named under “First Pinned File” is pinned, which is
one of the following entries. (In the following list, each entry is
followed by an explanation of its meaning.)
Active transaction(s)
An active transaction might have sent an audit record to this
audit-trail file. The audit-trail file remains on the active or
overflow-audit volume in case the transaction aborts, in which
case the file is needed by the backout process.
Current file
The audit-trail file is currently receiving audit records.
Might be needed to recover datavol volume-name volume
This audit-trail file contains audit records needed by the volume
recovery process to reapply transactions to the specified data
volume. The file is kept on the active or overflow-audit volume so
that if volume recovery is needed, the audit file does not have to
be restored from archive media.
Might be needed to restart TMF
This audit-trail file contains control information needed by TMF to
restart after a system failure. The control information is normally
written to the file within ten minutes.
Not dumped
An audit dump process has been configured for this audit trail,
and this file has not yet been copied to dump media.
Not yet determined
The TMP has not had enough time to determine why the oldest
file is held on disk. (This message is displayed for a brief period
after TMF is started and reports a state that lasts only briefly.)
Required by RDF environment
RDF requested the pinning of the file on disk, and eventually will
release the file. The environment field shows the RDF
environment that requested pinning, identified by system (node)
and RDF configuration ID--for example, PARIS1.
Required by the MAT
A master audit-trail file that must remain on the active or overflow
volume contains references to audit records in this audit-trail file.
This reason applies only to files in an auxiliary audit trail.
Volume is down
The volume on which the audit-trail file resides is down, so TMF
cannot perform the operation needed to release the file.
