D-Series System Migration
Considerations
This appendix discusses the compatibility of the D20 version with earlier versions of the
Guardian TN3270 Server.
Because the SPI interface to the Guardian TN3270 Server changed in the D20 version,
you cannot use C30 versions of TN32COM to control a D20 TN32SERV process.
Conversely, you cannot use a D20 TN32COM process to control a C30 TN32SERV
process. The TN32COM process reports an error and stops if it opens an incompatible
TN32SERV process.
The trace file format changed in the D20 version, so you need to use a D20 trace
formatter (FMTTRACE) to format a trace created by a D20 TN32SERV process. You
cannot use the D20 trace formatter to format a trace created by a C30 TN32SERV
process. The trace formatter reports an error and stops when run with an incompatible
process.
The D20 versions of TN32SERV, TN32COM, and FMTTRACE must run on a D-series
or later version of the NonStop operating system.
