Installing the Guardian TN3270 Server

1. If you are using Install (D-series installations only) to install the Guardian TN3270
Server:
Perform the RESTDSV, SYSGEN, and REPSUBSYS phases of the Install program.

Guardian TN3270 Server:
See the DSM/SCM User’s Guide for detailed information about DSM/SCM
installation methods.
2. Start the TCP/IP process.
Use the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF), as shown next, to set the TCP/IP host
name if it is not already set.
3. Start the Guardian TN3270 Server.
4. Connect to the Guardian TN3270 Server from a TN3270 client.
Defining the TCP/IP Host Name

TN3270 Server.
Use SCF to set the TCP/IP HOSTNAME attribute, as follows:
TACL 1> SCF
1-> ASSUME PROCESS tcpip-process
2-> ALTER,HOSTNAME "host-name"
ZTN3TAL ZSPIDEF 101 SPI/EMS definitions file for TAL
ZTN3TMPL ZTEMPL 844 DSM templates file

Note. You can continue to use Install for your D-series system software installations. Be
advised, however, that dates may not be displayed properly. Tandem advises that you use
DSM/SCM to avoid this inconvenience. For G-series system software installations, you
must use DSM/SCM.
Note. Be sure to include the quote marks when entering the ALTER,HOSTNAME “host-
name” command.
