Introduction to the TN3270e Server
The TN3270e server is a Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
service that acts as a Guardian 3270 access method. It allows workstations running
the public-domain TN3270 client to access 3270 block-mode or conversational HP
applications, including Pathway, TACL, TEDIT, and PSMAIL/3270.
The TN3270e server allows you to emulate both the terminal and printer members of
the 3270 family using Telnet. The TN3270e server also allows Telnet clients to request
that they be assigned specific device names, rather than requiring those clients to
connect by IP address. The enhanced options are only available if the TN3270E Telnet
option has been negotiated.
Features
The TN3270e server includes the following features:
Full compatibility with Distributed System Management (DSM).
Support for Subsystem Programmatic Interface (SPI) command and control.
Event Logging to the Event Management Service (EMS), including session
establishment and termination events.
A full trace facility, including a trace formatter.
Compatibility with EM3270.
An application interface that emulates SNAX/XF.
National language character sets (NLS) translation support.
Kanji for CRT mode applications support.
TN3270-protocol support as defined in RFC 2355.
