The TN3270e Server Environment
This section describes typical TN3270e server environments.
Figure 1-3 shows the environment of a simple TN3270e server environment.
Each copy of the TN3270e server accesses a single TCP/IP process. This results in
several possible configurations.
The simplest configuration is the one shown in Figure 1-3
, which provides access to a
single application through a single TCP/IP process. You can configure up to four
Ethernet subnets, four SNAP subnets, and four X25AM subnets per TCP/IP process.
For details on configuring TCP/IP, refer to the TCP/IP Configuration and Management
Manual or the TCP/IPv6 Configuration and Management Manual.
You also can run multiple copies of the TN3270e server against a single TCP/IP
process to provide more than 1000 sessions or to provide access to different
applications. For example, one copy of the TN3270e server could provide access to
TACL, while another copy could provide access to a Pathway application; however,
each copy of the TN3270e server requires a different port number.
