Before the Measurement
Before the Measurement
TPDC facilitates correct configuration of measurements by determining the hardware
and software of the system to be configured and organizing the measurements based
on that hardware and software configuration.
TPDC learns and records this information on the NonStop Kernel environment:
Physical device connection path information (LDEV entity)
Disk device space and paths (LDISK, PDISK, and DISK entities)
Disk file labels (FLABEL entity)
Alternate keyfile labels (ALTK entity)
Partition file labels (PART entity)
Named process pairs (PPD entity)
Processor history and measurement averages (MACHINE entity)
TPDC records this information about the measurements:
Base time in local civil time (LCT) and Greenwich mean time (GMT) (TIME entity)
Execution specifics—duration, priority, terminal, user, volume, measurement sizes
(TIME entity)
User-specified options (TIME entity)
Sampling intervals and counts (TIME entity)
During the Measurement Period
TPDC starts the configured Measure measurements, calculates an efficient sampling
interval for devices and processors, and samples and records information on these
NonStop Kernel components:
CPU availability and utilization (MACHINE entity)
Device path switches between CPUs (LDEV entity)
Memory management (KCCB entity)
Interrupts (KCCB entity)
Message system (KCCB entity)
TPDC then stops the configured Measure measurements.
