TPDC Output Files
DEFER
enables the RETAIN option and causes TPDC to immediately terminate after the
creation of the DWS file without any post-processing to create the UWS file. This
option is useful to minimize processor usage by TPDC while collecting data. If you
use this option, you can later run TPDP to generate a UWS file. See Running
Deferred Processing (TPDP) on page 2-7.
Because it minimizes impact on your system resources, this option is
recommended for all normal data collection processing.
TPDC Output Files
All files created by TPDC are placed in a subvolume on the current default volume.
The name of the subvolume is based on the measurement date. For example:
$defaultvol.GMyymmdd.*
The output files are:
Running Deferred Processing (TPDP)
If you ran TPDC using the DEFER option, in order to take measurement data without
processing it, you can run the Tandem Performance Deferred Processing (TPDP)
component at any later time to generate a consolidated UWS file from the data TPDC
collected.
FLABEL Only one copy per subvolume per day (created by TPSFL)
ALTKFILE Only one copy per subvolume per day (created by TPSFL)
PARTFILE Only one copy per subvolume per day (created by TPSFL)
OSSNAMES Only one copy per subvolume
GhhmmLOG A log of the measurement configurations, where hhmm represents hour
and minute of a measurement start time
GhhmmUWS The TPDC consolidated data file, where hhmm represents hour and minute
of a measurement start time
GhhmmMCn If RETAIN is specified, six Measure raw data files, where hhmm represents
hour and minute of a measurement start time, and where n=1 through 6
MC1 measures CPU, SYSPROCS, TMF, DEVICE, LINE, OPDISK,
NETLINE, CLUSTER, SYSTEM, TERMINAL, and DISC.
MC2 measures application PROCSS entity data.
MC3 contains DSICOPEN data.
MC4 contains FILE data.
MC5 contains SQLPROC and SQLSTMT data.
MC6 contains DISKFILE and CONTROLLER data.
