GUARDIAN 90 Password
This is an input field for the GUARDIAN 90 password associated with the depot. The
password cannot contain control characters. For security reasons, whatever you enter
is not displayed.
If the GUARDIAN 90 password changes but the GUARDIAN 90 user ID remains the
same, you do not need to update the GUARDIAN 90 password in the TRANSFER
profile.
Note The user ID and Password fields are used to associate a user ID and password with the group depot.
These fields are required for group depots that configure user-supplied agents for handling GUARDIAN
90 files. Providing a GUARDIAN 90 user ID and password ensures that the agent can open GUARDIAN
90 files to read them, print them, and so on.
What Correspondents
Can Do
As a correspondent, you can view profiles for a group to which you belong. You
cannot make any modifications in a profile.
What Read-Only
Administrators Can Do
As a read-only administrator, you can perform the same functions as correspondents.
In addition , you can examine the contents of any group's depot by first entering that
user's name in the Interest Group field on the INTEREST GROUP PROFILES menu
screen and then displaying this screen. You cannot modify the fields in anyone else's
depot, however.
What Group Creators
Can Do
As a group creator, you can perform the same functions as correspondents. In
addition, you can alter, for any group you have created, any field on the first page of
the INTEREST GROUP TRANSFER PROFILE screen. You should, however, consult
with the system manager before modifying the Language ID or Character Map ID
fields.
What System
Administrators Can Do
As a system administrator, you can alter, for any interest group depot, any field on the
first page of the INTEREST GROUP TRANSFER PROFILE screen. You are, however,
advised to consult with the system manager before modifying the Language ID or
Character Map ID fields.
Password changes are handled differently. You can:
Change a correspondent's TRANSFER password by typing in the new password
only and pressing F8. (System administrators are permitted to change a password
without entering the correspondent's existing password because they presumably
do not know the existing password.)
Delete a correspondent's TRANSFER password by first changing the password
and then entering the new password in the existing password field. Leave the
new password field blank and press F8 to update the system. (You have to change
the password before updating it with blanks because you presumably would not
know the existing password.)
