List Name
This is an input field in which you can enter a search pattern to set parameters for lists
you want the system to display. You can also enter a distribution list name on which
to operate with the ADD or DELETE functions. The field accepts up to 41 characters.
See Section 2, “Getting Started with ADMIN,” for a discussion of search patterns and
TRANSFER object naming rules.
What Correspondents
Can Do
As a correspondent, you can perform the following functions on the DISTRIBUTION
LISTS screen:
Display a list all of your distribution lists by leaving the List Name field blank and
pressing F1.
Display a subset of all your distribution lists by entering a search pattern or name
in the List Name field and pressing F1.
A pattern includes one or more asterisks standing for any character or characters
in the position held by the asterisks. As an example, you could type B* in the List
Name field and press F1 to display all your distribution lists whose names begin
with the letter B.
Display a list of distribution lists belonging to other correspondents or groups by
referencing the correspondent or group using a prefix. The form is
[correspondent|group name].list name.
Search patterns can be used in
the depot name or the list name. For example, you can enter a search pattern like
one of the following in the List Name field and press F1.
Display all distribution lists at your node by entering:
*.*
Display all distribution lists at your node whose names match a pattern by
entering:
*.
pattern
Display all distribution lists at your node belonging to correspondents or groups
that match a pattern by entering:
pattern
.*
If you were to insert a pattern instead of an asterisk in the example immediately
preceding, that is, enter
pattern.pattern
, you would see only the distribution
lists that match the pattern.
Display all distribution lists belonging to a specific correspondent or interest
group by entering:
name
.*
You can make any of the above search requests for another node by typing a node
qualification following the search pattern, for example:
name
.* @LA
