Managing Distribution Lists

D Specifies that ADMIN use the default control attributes for this list. The default
control attributes are P for a correspondent-owned list, and V for a group-owned
list.
P Specifies that a list is owned and controlled by a correspondent. Only the
correspondent and a system administrator can add or delete members and alter
other attributes of the list.
C Specifies that a list is owned and controlled by a group. Only the group creator,
group administrators, and system administrators can add or delete members.
V Specifies that a list is owned and controlled by a group. However, all group
members can add or delete their own names to and from the list.
These values, once set, cannot be altered. The only way to modify control attributes
for a list is to delete the list and define a new one with the desired characteristics.
Creator Name
This is a display-only field in which the list creator's name appears after the list is
added.
What Correspondents and
Read-Only Administrators
Can Do
As a correspondent or read-only administrator, you can establish distribution lists for
your own depot or for a nonrestrictive group; that is, a group you belong to whose
profile allows members to create distribution lists. You can perform the following
tasks:
Add a distribution list to your own depot by entering the name on the List Name
field, choosing a type of D or P, and pressing F7. You will get the other
DISTRIBUTION LIST ATTRIBUTES screen, from which you can request functions
for adding members to the list.
Add a distribution list for a non-restrictive group to which you belong. You enter
the name on the List Name field in the form

choose a type of D or C and press F7. You will get the other DISTRIBUTION LIST
ATTRIBUTES screen, from which you can request functions for adding members
to the list.
Recover the DISTRIBUTION LIST ATTRIBUTES screen in its previous state by
pressing SF14. This function can be useful if, for example, the contents of the
screen become garbled due to a communication error. RECOVER brings the
screen back.
Get the Help screen for an explanation of the DISTRIBUTION LIST ATTRIBUTES
screen or the message currently displayed on the advice line by pressing F15.
Return to the previous screen by pressing F16.
Return to the MAIN MENU by pressing SF16.
What Group Administrators
and Creators Can Do
As a group administrator or creator, you can perform the same functions as a
correspondent. In addition, you can create distribution lists for groups whose profiles
reserve distribution management privileges for administrators.
