TRANSFER SYSTEM
CONTROL Screen
You get the TRANSFER SYSTEM CONTROL screen by pressing SF1 at the MAIN
MENU. This screen displays the time limits for the delivery of messages sent from
your node. Messages received from other nodes are not affected by the limits set for
your node. The screen includes fields specifying the default national language on the
system and the default code set used to map characters on the system.
The TRANSFER SYSTEM CONTROL screen also shows whether external objects are
enabled. External objects are GUARDIAN 90 data files attached to TRANSFER
packages. The ability to attach external objects to TRANSFER packages allows data to
be stored outside the TRANSFER database.

Screen-Specific Fields Input and display fields specific to the TRANSFER SYSTEM CONTROL screen are
defined in the following paragraphs.
Version Codes
These display-only fields contain software release version information.
Software. This is a display field for the version of Tandem operating system software
currently running on your node.
File. This is a display field for the version of the TRANSFER file format used in the file
containing the depot profiles.
Duration Controls
The following fields establish parameters that establish the time window within which
a package must be delivered.
Maximum package lifespan. This field specifies a system maximum for the time allowed
for package delivery. Packages whose expiration time is greater then 0 must be
