delivered between the time they are sent and the scheduled expiration time. Packages
whose expiration time is set for 0 can be delivered any time between the time they are
sent and the latest delivery allowed. The maximum package lifespan sets a maximum
allowable period of time before expiration, that is, the latest delivery allowed.
The maximum package lifespan can be from 1 through 9999 M (minutes), H (hours), or
D (days). The TRANSFER default is 1000 days.
The sum of the delivery window and the expiration window values cannot exceed the
value of the package lifespan. (See the definitions immediately following.)
Minimum delivery window. This field specifies the minimum period of time for delivering
a message. Possible values are from 1 through 9999 M (minutes), H (hours), or D
(days). The TRANSFER default is five minutes. If a message sent from your node has
a delivery window smaller than the minimum delivery window, TRANSFER
automatically increases it to the system control limit.
Minimum expiration window. This field contains the minimum length of time from the
latest possible delivery of a message to its scheduled expiration. This field applies
only to messages scheduled for expiration. If a message sent from your node has an
expiration window smaller than this, TRANSFER automatically increases it to the
system control limit. The value can be from 1 through 9999, followed by M (minutes),
H (hours), or D (days). The TRANSFER default is one hour.
External Objects Enabled
This field specifies whether or not TRANSFER allows data to be added as new
attachments to TRANSFER packages. A Y (yes) in the External Objects Enabled field
indicates that the external objects feature is enabled and that data in a new message
can be kept in a GUARDIAN 90 file attached to a TRANSFER package, rather than in
the TRANSFER database. An N (no) indicates that the feature has been disabled and
that no new external object attachments can be made.
Existing messages stored as external objects are not affected by the setting of this flag;
it is still possible to read messages stored in this way when the flag is set to N.
System Language and Character Map
The following fields specify the default language and character map for the
TRANSFER system.
Language ID. This field specifies the default language to be used on the system.
American English has a language ID of 01. Appendix A lists the other languages that
Tandem supports, along with the number codes the system manager uses to specify
them.
Character map ID. This field shows the numeric ID of the default code set used for input
and output character mapping on the system.
Tandem US ASCII has a code set of 65301. Appendix A lists the other character maps
that Tandem supports, along with the numbers used to specify them.
