Naming Rules
Getting Started with ADMIN
2–8 40591 Tandem Computers Incorporated
X400 name components are fully defined and described in the Tandem OSI/MHS
Configuration and Management Guide.
You need not know all of the X.400 naming conventions, however. Your system
manager can tell you which of these naming components are used in your X400 name
and give you correct values for each component. You also can look up some of the
components and values yourself by displaying the ADMIN X400 GATEWAY
ATTRIBUTES screen (see Section 4, “Managing Correspondent Profiles”). This
information can then be passed to any system user who wishes to address X400
packages to you over a network.
Similarly, foreign correspondents can give you the values for their X400 names. You
can store this information on the last page of your own correspondent profile, where it
can be accessed each time you want to send a package to that correspondent. See
Section 4, “Managing Correspondent Profiles,” and Section 7, “Managing Distribution
Lists,” for the screens used to store X400 name information.
