TRANSFER Administration Guide Volume 1 Reference Manual
New and Changed Information
40591 Tandem Computers Incorporated iii
This manual replaces the IMT Contact Guide, Volume 1: Reference Manual. New or
changed information includes new ADMIN functions that support new features of
TRANSFER. TRANSFER now supports:
Interest groups—These are groups of correspondents who share a TRANSFER
depot to which anyone can send packages to be shared by all in the group. An
interest group can organize such packages in folders accessible to all members
and can maintain its own distribution lists. See Sections 5 and 6.
PUBLIC group—TRANSFER automatically creates an interest group called
PUBLIC containing all the correspondents on a node. This provides a public
bulletin board function for all correspondents. See Section 5.
X400 correspondents—TRANSFER correspondents can now exchange
packages with any computer users across a public or private network that
supports the X.400 protocol. ADMIN users can define X400 correspondents in
TRANSFER distribution lists. See Sections 4 and 7.
Depot storage statistics—The system collects statistical information on disk
storage used by correspondents. Statistics are collected for each depot: by
depot, by folder, and by item. You can use ADMIN to display these statistics,
which are collected based on system-wide parameters set by the system
manager. See Section 11.
Print-on-delivery agent—A new TRANSFER agent directs incoming packages
to a printing device. See Section 9.
