Control Flags
The following fields allow you to set parameters that establish your TRANSFER
environment.
Defer Remote Name Resolution. This input field establishes whether a remote name (one
on another node) is validated when entered on the addressee field of a package header
or when TRANSFER attempts to deliver the package. Similarly, the value in this field
dictates whether remote names in a distribution list are validated when added to the
list or when TRANSFER attempts to deliver a package to the distribution list. Possible
values are Y (yes) or N (no). The default is N.
Generally, remote name resolution is deferred to keep system and network overhead
costs to a minimum. The default setting is recommended.
Defer Local Name Resolution. This input field establishes whether a local name (one on
your node) is validated when entered on the addressee field of a package header or
when TRANSFER attempts to deliver the package. Similarly, the value in this field
dictates whether local names in a distribution list are validated when added to the list
or when TRANSFER attempts to deliver a package to the distribution list Possible
values are Y (yes) or N (no). The default is Y.
Generally, local name resolution is not deferred, because local system overhead is not
great. The default setting is recommended.
Concurrent Sessions OK. This input field specifies whether or not this correspondent can
have two concurrent TRANSFER sessions. Sessions initiated for agents assigned to the
depot are not considered active correspondent sessions. Possible values are Y (yes) or
N (no). The default is Y.
Suffixes Recognized. This input field specifies whether TRANSFER will recognize
suffixes attached to (1) recipient names on incoming packages and (2) correspondent
names at logon. Possible values are Y (yes) or N (no). The default is N.
If this flag is set to Y, a package appears in the recipient's INBOX folder as many times
as there are suffixes, even though the package is stored in the TRANSFER database
only once; multiple suffixes cause an agent to be invoked upon delivery once for each
suffix. If the flag is sent to N, the suffixes are eliminated and the package appears only
once in the INBOX folder.
If this flag is set to Y, and a correspondent logs on with a suffix attached to the
correspondent name, the entire name is displayed on all the Tandem mail clients and
ADMIN screens. If the correspondent creates a package, TRANSFER stores the suffix
on the correspondent's name to identify the package's creator.
For an explanation of suffixes, see Section 2, “Getting Started with ADMIN.”
Collect Statistics. This input field specifies whether depot storage statistics can be
collected for this depot. Possible values are Y (yes) or N (no). The default is Y.
