What Correspondents and
Read-Only Administrators
Can Do
If your TRANSFER system is configured to allow correspondents to create groups, you
can use all the functions on this screen. See your system manager to find out whether
any correspondent can create groups. If you can create groups, see “What Group
Creators Can Do,”immediately following, for additional functions you can perform.
If your TRANSFER system is not configured to allow correspondents to create groups,
you can use all the functions on this screen except the F6, DELETE, and F7, ADD,
functions. If you attempt to use F6 or F7, you will get an error message.
You can perform the following functions:
Display a list of one or more interest groups by entering a search pattern or name
in the Interest Group field and pressing F1.
A pattern includes one or more asterisks standing for any character or characters
in the position held by the asterisks. As an example, you could type B* in the
Interest Group field and press F1 to display all local interest groups whose names
begin with the letter B. Or you could type the following to get a list of all the
interest groups at the LA node associated with GOAL1 project:
goal1* @LA
For more on search patterns, see Section 2, “Getting Started with ADMIN.”
Display a list of the members of a group on your own node by entering the name
in the Interest Group field or positioning the cursor next to the name in a list and
pressing SF3. You will get the INTEREST GROUP MEMBERS screen.
You cannot list members of groups on remote nodes.
Return to the first page of a multipage listing by pressing SF1.
Move between multiple pages of this screen by pressing the NEXT PAGE and
PREV PAGE keys.
Recover the INTEREST GROUPS screen in its previous state by pressing SF14.
This function can be useful if, for example, the contents of the screen become
garbled due to a communication error. RECOVER brings the screen back.
Get the Help screen for an explanation of the INTEREST GROUPS screen or the
message currently displayed on the advice line by pressing F15.
Return to the MAIN MENU by pressing F16.
