INTEREST GROUPS
ATTRIBUTES Screen
You get the INTEREST GROUP ATTRIBUTES screen by pressing F7 at the INTEREST
GROUPS screen. Use this screen to register a new interest group on the local node. By
registering an interest group, you add the interest group's name to the TRANSFER
name directory, establish a depot for the interest group, and make the interest group
eligible to receive messages.

Screen-Specific Fields Input and display fields specific to the INTEREST GROUPS ATTRIBUTES screen are
Interest Group, Model Group Depot, and Initial Member. They are defined in the
following paragraphs.
Interest Group
This is an input field for the name of a new interest group to be registered in
TRANSFER. The name can be up to 32 characters long. It must be unique among
correspondent and interest group names on this node and cannot duplicate any
distribution lists owned by the PUBLIC group. If you entered a name on the
INTEREST GROUPS screen, this field displays that name initially. See Section 2,
“Getting Started with ADMIN,” for a discussion of TRANSFER naming rules.
Model Group Depot
This is an input field for the name of a depot whose profile attributes the system will
copy in setting up a depot for the new group. (A depot name is the same as that of the
owner group.)
If this field is left blank, the system uses the default model group depot, created when
TRANSFER is initialized.
The depot you establish for the new correspondent contains the group TRANSFER
correspondent profile. The new depot has one special folder, the INBOX. If you
