Overview The TRANSFER Administration Guide, Volume 1, Reference Manual provides instructions
for performing the administrative functions required to support TRANSFER
correspondents. These functions can include adding TRANSFER correspondents,
defining interest groups that share depots, and setting up agents.
Audience The guide is aimed primarily at ADMIN system administrators permitted to enter and
manage ADMIN data. All correspondents, however, can use the guide to update
information related to their own depots.
This is the first volume of a two-volume guide. The second volume, TRANSFER
Administration Guide, Volume 2, Messages Manual, explains messages ADMIN users can
receive.
How This Manual Is
Organized
The manual contains into eleven sections organized by ADMIN function. Each
functional section contains information for the screens used to perform a given
function.
Section Contents
Section 1, “Introduction,” gives an overview of TRANSFER and ADMIN functions and
provides definitions of ADMIN-related terminology.
Section 2, “Getting Started with ADMIN,” describes ADMIN user classes, function
keys, naming conventions, screen navigation, and Help. Instructions are provided for
logging on to ADMIN and using the MAIN MENU.
Section 3, “Listing, Adding, and Deleting Correspondents,” describes how to add and
delete correspondents.
Section 4, “Managing Correspondent Profiles,” describes how to define and manage
correspondent profiles.
Section 5, “Listing, Adding, and Deleting Groups,” covers how to create and delete
interest groups.
Section 6, “Managing Group Profiles,” provides instructions for defining and
managing interest group profiles.
Section 7, “Managing Distribution Lists,” includes information on creating and
managing distribution lists. X400 foreign correspondents are defined in TRANSFER
only as members of distribution lists.
Section 8, “Listing, Adding, and Deleting Folders,” describes how to create and delete
folders for an individual or group depot.
Section 9, “TRANSFER Agents,” describes how to set up agents that can provide
special handling of incoming messages. Agents provided by Tandem include the
vacation agent and the print-on-delivery agent.
Section 10, “System Control Functions,” describes certain system control data ADMIN
