TRANSFER Errors (4000-6999)

Effect. The message you receive will have truncated lines.
Recovery. If you get this message in PS MAIL, ask the sender to resend the message
with abbreviated lines of text so you will receive all the data.
For other applications, the programmer should modify the application to
accommodate longer record lines.

One or more characters truncated from name during decollation.
Cause. One or more characters were truncated from the name while it was being
converted from internal storage form to native form. (For instance, if a name
containing German characters is displayed in English, it takes two characters to
represent an umlaut and there might not be enough room.)
Effect. The name will appear in truncated form.
Recovery. Information only.

Too many records requested, making the reply too long.
Cause. The number of records to be retrieved causes the reply to be too long.
Effect. The requested function is not performed.
Recovery. This message reflects a TRANSFER internal coding error. Ask the system
manager to report the error to the Tandem Online Support Center.

Invalid number requested.
Cause. The number you requested is invalid.
Effect. The requested function is not performed.
Recovery. This message reflects a TRANSFER internal coding error. Ask the system
manager to report the error to the Tandem Online Support Center.

Security violation.
Cause. You attempted to modify a field or requested a function for which you are not
authorized.
Effect. The requested function is not performed.
Recovery. Certain changes and functions are restricted to system administrators with
system administrative write privileges or to system managers. If you feel you ought to
be able to perform this function, see your system manager.
