5. Stop
Stop uses files generated by the definition programs to stop your PATHWAY
system. The XSTOP program shuts down the PATHWAY system and stops all
TRANSFER processes that continue after the shutdown.
6. Redefinition
Redefinition uses the system descriptions you provide in the define files to
generate files that configure, start, and stop the PATHWAY system. Redefinition
provides for modifying definitions of existing TRANSFER components.
Redefinition is performed by the definition programs, which generate the same
files for redefinition as for definition except for the initialization files.
Customizing a TRANSFER
System
A TRANSFER system definition that is generated from define files cannot provide an
adequate definition for all TRANSFER systems. You might need to change configured
PATHWAY objects or add clients. To make these changes, you can create three
customizing files. The files are used by the configuration, start, and stop programs
(XCNFG, XCOOL, and XSTOP, respectively) to control the TRANSFER system. The
customizing files and their functions are:
CUSTCNFG, which changes the PATHWAY configuration by changing existing
configuration parameters or by adding PATHWAY objects
CUSTCOOL, which starts TCPs and terminals configured in CUSTCNFG
CUSTSTOP, which stops processes configured in CUSTCNFG
For more information about customizing TRANSFER, see Section 7.
Redefining a TRANSFER
System
To redefine a system, you use the same files and programs you used to define it. The
procedure descriptions in this section apply for both definition and redefinition, but
redefinition has additional considerations. Section 8 contains details on redefinition.
