Defining and
Initializing TRANSFER
Components
You define and redefine the TRANSFER components by executing the definition
programs.
The components that create uninitialized data files require both definition and
initialization. Initialization applies to the component the first time you install the
component in your TRANSFER system or any time you wish to reinitialize the data
files for the components. Table 6-1 shows the components that require initialization.
Table 6-1. Component Initialization
Component Initialization Applies*
Base TRANSFER X
PS MAIL 6530
PS MAIL 3270
PS MAIL TTY
X400 gateway X
* Initialization requires that you purge any existing data files that are to be initialized. Initialization
does not apply if you specify REDEFINE.
To initialize a component, you issue an OBEY GxxINIT command, where xx is the
prefix identifying the component. The GxxINIT obey files are:
GTRINIT
GX4INIT
Initialize the component immediately after the definition run completes successfully.
Rules for Running
Definition Programs
The following rules apply to running the definition programs:
Log on with the GUARDIAN 90 ID under which the TRANSFER system will run.
Execute the definition programs in the specified order, running the Base
TRANSFER definition program first.
If you do not wish to include a component in the TRANSFER system at your site,
omit the definition step.
If you change any parameter value in the Base TRANSFER definition program,
rerun all the definition programs that follow.
The definition procedures can be affected by parameter values specified in a
GUARDIAN 90 command interpreter PARAM command. Before running the
programs, enter the GUARDIAN 90 command interpreter command to clear any set
parameter values. The command is:
1> CLEAR ALL
The definition programs are described in the following subsections in the order in
which you run them.
