To start TRANSFER successfully, the cool-start files for the components you include in
your system must reside in the configuration subvolume. If one of these files does not
reside in the configuration subvolume, XCOOL assumes that the component should
not be started.
To start TRANSFER, XCOOL performs the following operations:
1. Performs a cool start of the PATHWAY system.
2. Starts the entities in the PATHWAY system for the components whose cool-start
files reside in the configuration subvolume. The components are started in this
order: Base TRANSFER (including PS MAIL TTY), PS MAIL 6530, PS MAIL 3270,
X400 gateway. All servers are started in alphabetic order by server class name.
3. Invokes the customizing cool-start file CUSTCOOL if that file resides in the
configuration subvolume (see Section 7 for more information).
Running Your Applications Once XCOOL has started the TRANSFER PATHWAY system, you can run any of the
installed programs from within PATHCOM. For PS MAIL 6530 and PS MAIL 3270,
the programs are M6530-n and M3270-n respectively. The ADMIN and TMANAGER
programs are automatically installed with Base TRANSFER.
Server Startup Messages TRANSFER servers generate messages if they cannot access certain files or initialize
certain processes during startup. If you receive one of these messages, consider the
following:
If the server could not open a specified file, check to see that the file exists. If you
know the file exists, you can run NALOAD to point to the correct location of the
file. Refer to “Storing New Names with the NALOAD Program” in Section 11 for
a discussion of NALOAD.
If the message reports a GUARDIAN 90 error, check the GUARDIAN 90 error
number associated with the problem.
Double-check your configuration and start TRANSFER again.
Appendix B, “Error Messages,” lists server startup messages.
