Configuring the
Asynchronous Requester
Depot (_TRANSFER_)
The TRANSFER correspondent profile for the asynchronous requester depot should
always be set to the GUARDIAN 90 user ID that owns the TRANSFER data files. This
value matches the one specified in the DEFINETR file with the parameter
TRGUARDIANUserId. When the TRANSFER system is first installed, the profile is
properly initialized. If you are converting a system that was initialized using a
software version older than B40, you must set this value manually. You perform this
function through screens in the ADMIN program, described in the TRANSFER
Administration Guide.
The GFSERV and PSSERV programs log on to the user ID specified in the
correspondent profile of the correspondent they are serving. The user ID from the
asynchronous requester depot is used, if available, to switch back to the original user
ID. If the user ID is not available, these servers remain logged on to the user ID of the
correspondent who last used them. Any servers that have not logged back on as the
TRGUARDIANUserId cannot be stopped by the XSTOP program.
The user ID selected for use in the asynchronous requester affects not only system
shutdown, but also access for users of the full-screen mail clients, PS MAIL 6530 and
PS MAIL 3270. If these users at your site expect to have remote access to a full-screen
mail client and expect to run an editor from within the client, the user ID configured
for the asynchronous requestor depot must have network access to every node that
has remote full-screen mail client users. Ordinarily, since the TRGUARDIANUserId
user ID must have this network access in order to perform delivery and transport
functions, no problem occurs.
Configure the vacation agent for the asynchronous requester depot to handle any
packages that might be sent to that depot. For example, you could configure the
vacation agent to delete all incoming packages. The TRANSFER Administration Guide
describes setting the vacation agent.
