TRANSFER Initial
Installation Summary
This installation summary provides a check list of the steps for the initial installation of
a TRANSFER system. The list includes both optional and required steps, syntax for
the procedures, and comments. If your TRANSFER system does not include particular
components, omit the steps for defining those components.
Note Although the installation programs do not require an OUT location, it is good practice to include the OUT
parameter with your RUN commands so that you capture output in case of errors.
1. Prepare the user-DSVs as instructed in Section 4, “Preparing to Install a
TRANSFER System.”
2. Log on with the user ID under which TRANSFER will run.
3. Copy the defaults (xxDEFLTS) files from the user-DSVs to the configuration
subvolume. Rename the files to define file names and edit the files so that they
specify parameters and values appropriate for your system. The define files must
have the following names:
DEFINETR—Base TRANSFER
DEFINEML—PS MAIL 6530
DEFINEIM—PS MAIL 3270
DEFINECM—PS MAIL TTY
DEFINEX4—X400 gateway
4. Enter this command:
1> CLEAR ALL
to clear parameter values set by a GUARDIAN 90 command interpreter PARAM
command entered before running the definition programs.
5. Enter this command:
2> RUN CDTRDEF /OUT $S.#TRDEF/ [$
vol
.]
cnfg-subvol
INITIAL
to define Base TRANSFER. (CDTRDEF resides on the TRANSFER user-DSV.)
6. Make sure that TMF is running.
7. Enter this command:
3> OBEY GTRINIT
to initialize Base TRANSFER. (Do this only for the first installation or for
reinitialization, not for redefinition; this purges any existing TRANSFER database
files.)
