Sample Redefinition
Redefining a TRANSFER System
8–2 13198 Tandem Computers Incorporated
Sample Redefinition Assume that you have an existing system that includes components Base TRANSFER
and PS MAIL TTY and that you want to add the X400 gateway. The steps for defining
the new X400 gateway component and redefining the existing components are:
1. Edit any define file requiring changes. Make sure that the TRGatewayNode
parameter in DEFINETR is defined.
2. Run the CDTRDEF program to redefine Base TRANSFER.
3. Create and edit your DEFINEX4 file in the configuration subvolume.
4. Run the CDX4DEF program to define the X400 gateway initially.
5. Run the CDCMDEF program to redefine PS MAIL TTY.
6. Run the obey file GX4INIT (generated by CDX4DEF) to initialize the X400 gateway
data files.
7. Run the XCNFG program to cold load and configure the PATHWAY system.
8. Run the XCOOL program to cool start PATHWAY and start your TRANSFER
system.
9. Ensure that the special TRANSFER depots are initialized correctly.
If you want to change only a component in your existing TRANSFER environment or
add a component to your existing TRANSFER system without changing Base
TRANSFER, you do not need to run CDTRDEF. Run only the program for the
component to be changed or added. For instance, if you want to add PS MAIL 6530
without changing the existing configuration, you simply run CDMLDEF in the
INITIAL mode.
