TRANSFER Installation and Management Guide
9 Using ADMIN to Administer
TRANSFER
13198 Tandem Computers Incorporated 9–1
Overview ADMIN provides a set of screens that allow you, as system manager, to control the
TRANSFER environment. The ADMIN screens that you use for system control are
described in this section. The other ADMIN screens are discussed in the TRANSFER
Administration Guide, Vol. 1, Reference Manual.
From the TRANSFER SYSTEM CONTROL screen, you can set the time limits for
messages sent from your node, specify whether external objects are enabled, indicate
the default language and character set for the system, and determine who can create
interest groups at the node. The SESSIONS IN PROGRESS screen lists the
correspondent names for all sessions that are currently active.
With the DEPOT STATISTICS CONFIGURATION screen, you can determine how and
when depot storage statistics are collected and saved. The X400 GATEWAY
ATTRIBUTES screen displays the X400 name attributes for your node.
In addition, TMANAGER, discussed in Section 10, provides a set of screens for
performing other system and resource management functions.
The ADMIN application also allows customers to define their own system control
parameters. If a user-supplied system control module has been installed at your node,
you know the details on the profile screen for that module, the values in the fields on
the screen, and the function keys used in setting those values. Figure 9-1 shows the
flow of the system control screens.
