Screens Used for Depot Statistics
Using ADMIN to Administer TRANSFER
13198 Tandem Computers Incorporated 9–13
Each snapshot of depot storage represents depot statistics information for a set time
period, or sample interval. Using the configuration parameters, you, as system
manager with your administrative write privileges, can control the timing of the
snapshot, naming the hour and minute you want statistics to be collected and the
interval at which you want the samples to be taken. For example, if the base time is
set to 1:30 a.m. on January 1 and the sample interval is two days, the statistics are
saved at 1:30 a.m. on January 3, 5, 7, and so on.
Configuring the parameters for statistic collection is discussed later in this section.
Displaying Depot Storage
Statistics
TRANSFER collects statistics for the current collection period by depot, by folder, and
by item, and statistics for previous collection periods by depot only. A set of depot-
related screens displays these statistics for you, as follows:
The STATISTICS screen displays the statistics at the current time as well as the
most recently collected samples if you are keeping previous samples.
The AVERAGE STATISTICS screen displays the most recently collected sample
averages if you are keeping previous samples and sample averages.
The OLD STATISTICS screen displays samples taken for the preceding
configuration period if you were keeping previous samples.
A configuration period is the period for which statistics configuration parameters
remain constant; a new configuration period begins when you change any of the
parameters and then run XCOOL.
The OLD AVERAGE STATISTICS screen displays sample averages taken during
the preceding configuration period if you were keeping previous samples and
sample averages.
The FOLDER STATISTICS screen displays the number of items in each folder,
the bytes of external-object storage by folder, and the bytes of item-data storage by
folder at the current time.
Statistics are not collected for items stored in the special WASTEBASKET folder,
which typically receives messages that you delete from other folders.
The ITEM STATISTICS screen lists items saved in the folder selected on the
FOLDER STATISTICS screen and gives the sender, the subject, the date sent, and
the size of each item. These statistics are for the current collection period only.
Only the depot owner has access to the ITEM STATISTICS screen.
The TRANSFER Administration Guide, Volume 1: Reference Manual discusses these
ADMIN screens.
Other storage statistics—the number of data records for each item and the number of
data records for each folder—are available through UOW interfaces. The TRANSFER
Reference Manual discusses these interfaces.
