Screens Used for
Monitor Functions
You use several TMANAGER screens for monitoring: the SCHEDULER QUEUE
SAMPLES screen, the DATABASE SAMPLES screens and the related FILE DETAIL
screen, and the MONITOR CONFIGURATION screen.
The SCHEDULER
QUEUE SAMPLES
Screen
The SCHEDULER QUEUE SAMPLES screen allows you to monitor the activity of
TRANSFER scheduler queues. The TRANSFER asynchronous system management
server, TSAMPLE, collects—at configurable intervals—counts of different types of
work scheduled on these queues.
Samples are taken of four queues:
The READY queue contains requests that are ready for processing.
The TIME queue contains requests scheduled for later processing, such as
deferred deliveries and messages that are automatically deleted after a set interval.
The NET queue contains requests for delivery over the network that cannot be
processed at initial submission. If a remote system is not available, an entry is
moved from the READY queue to the NET queue for retry later.
The HELD queue contains requests that produce an unexpected or nonretryable
error during processing. If a request can be tried again, it is retried a set number
of times; if it continues to fail, the request is moved to the HELD queue.
If a count for a given type of work has met or exceeded a configured threshold alarm
value, that count field is highlighted in reverse video to alert you. You configure the
threshold alarm values on the MONITOR CONFIGURATION screen. There are 16
types of work that are counted in the scheduler queue. Each type of work listed below
is prefixed with the corresponding queue function code, which is used internally by
the TRANSFER asynchronous processes and appears on the SCHEDULER QUEUE
SCAN screen.
1: Submit Package 9: Delivery Ends
2: Cancel Package 10: Unsave Item
3: Local Delivery 11: Delete External Object
4: Local Package Expiration 12: Translation Requested
5: Remote Shipment 13: Receipt Notification
6: Remote Cancel 16: Nonreceipt Notification
7: Certify Package 1001: End Session
8: Delete Item 9999: Invalid Function Code
Note Delete Item deletes an item from the TRANSFER database; Unsave Item removes an item from a folder.
